London D1

An invitation to visit London – accepted! Brian dutifully stayed behind to babysit the pupper & kitten while I jaunted off across the Atlantic.

Wednesday

9.1 Miles walked total

The Flight over – lessons were learned –

  • Select an aisle seat – my neighbor in the aisle seat didn’t budge until 30 minutes prior to landing 😦
  • An aisle seat is likely to provide a full space for a backpack – my middle seat did not, due to the brace support of the row in front of mine 😦
  • Select a row away from the toilets, especially on an overnight flight those toilets are loud.
  • Overhead bin – make sure to be in the Group 4 or lower to get a seat sooner when boarding – several people shoved coats and over sized luggage in the bins – it was a full flight.
  • Use the stretchy band I lugged over the Atlantic during the flight.
  • Customs at Heathrow – super simple – no stamp anymore 😦
  • Visa & MC – are accepted by the 4 different rail companies – DISCOVER is NOT

On to pictures – bags dropped off at the flat – my friend & host Londoner couldn’t wait to show me Hyde Park & a few other sites – mostly avians 🙂

Walking towards Paddington Station in Little Venice

All swans of England are property of Her Majesty the Queen – they are ‘tagged’ with a band around their leg.

America – one of the Four Corners of the World statues surrounding the gold painted Prince Albert monument
Africa – another of the Four Corners of the World statues
